Tim Hunt
I am a Chartered Building Engineer and former Chair of the Institute of Home Inspections with over 25 years’ experience working in the construction industry. Working with clients, architects and contractors I look for the simplest and most cost affective design solutions to achieve the envisaged scheme.
I have a wide range of experience working with individuals to large multinational firms on residential, industrial and transport infrastructure projects. Schemes I have been involved in include new build housing and industrial estates to barn conversions and Grade 1 structural repairs.
From initial contact I take a client through the structural requirements required for their project and put together a design package to cover their needs. I am happy to visit the site and discuss through matters so that the client gets what they wanted.
Our Services
Structural engineering
We can provide advice and calculations for all types of structural design in steel, timber, and reinforced concrete. Be it an opening for bi-folding doors to removing walls, converting a loft or a building a whole new property, we can provide the information to construct the works.
Surveying and assessing structures
From cracking and subsidence to corrosion and spalling, we survey all types of structures. These range from domestic properties for homeowners and buyers to those looking to convert a barn with a Class Q survey to stands and stadiums for Green Book compliance. We provide full written reports to letters on specific locations and verbal feedback to clients.
Temporary works
We offer the full range of temporary works consulting services including surveying, design, detailing, RAMS and signing off works. Working from TG13:20 and BS EN 12810/12811 we provide the confidence to protect the existing structure, employees and the public whilst works progress.
Civil engineering
We can provide advice and calculations for all types of civil engineering design. We design and detail works for both strip and raft foundations as well as retaining walls for bank stabilization and basements. We supervise percolation tests for soakaways and SuDs attenuation drainage and design culverts for waterways.
Party Wall Surveyors
When disputes arise following the issuing of a Party Wall Act Notice, we can act as the surveyor and guide people through the enforcement of the Act carrying out condition surveys, awards, and inspections. We also offer our services as independent engineers to surveyors providing specialist assistance were required.
Historical Buildings and Restoration
Working with estates, schools, developers, commercial and domestic owners we survey and advise on the protection and restoration of historical buildings. Whether it is a Grade 1* pigeon coop or an old water mill we can offer our experience to protect the structure for the future.
